Saltwater Table, by Whitney Otawka
I’ve loved this cookbook for years.I especially love to flip through it while I’m at the beach and have access to fresh seafood.
This book chronicles Whitney Otawka’s time as executive chef at Greyfield Inn, originally built on Cumberland Island as a summer home for the Carnegie family and still owned by Carnegie family descendants.
Originally not from the South, she found herself deeply inspired by what grows best along the Georgia coast and by the sea itself. At the Greyfield Inn, guests share a communal style of dining: breakfast together in the morning, packed lunches for island excursions, cocktail hour, and a communal dinner in the evening. This rhythm of hospitality and coastal ingredients is reflected throughout the book.
